Halong Ginger Cruise Book now

Discover the splendors of HalongBay aboard the Halong Ginger, a wooden junk that combines classic beauty with modern comfort. Measuring 38 meters (125 feet) in length, custom-designed yacht features three decks that house an elegant restaurant, two bars, a small library, and a massage room-plus ten luxurious sleeping cabins. With so much space, passengers can truly unwind and enjoy the bay’s magnificent scenery.
While all those who visit Halong Bay are charmed by the archipelago’s beauty, few visitors are aware that the three-thousand islands that dot this bay are home to many rare plants, including species found nowhere else in the world. We chose our boat’s name-Halong Ginger- because, like the plant it was named after, our junk is perfectly suited to this environment. With its golden sails, polished woodwork and refined, Asian décor, the Halong Ginger offers an unforgettable ambiance of relaxed elegance. Join us, and see Halong Bay in style.

While the view is undoubtedly the best feature of each of our ten guest cabins, guests will also appreciate the rooms’ tasteful décor and furnishings. To complement the bay’s natural beauty we have outfitted the cabins in natural materials: wood floors covered with sedge mats; walls covered with woven bamboo panels; and ceilings decorated with bamboo panels hand-painted with a ginger motif. The standing shower, meanwhile, features mosaic tiles in Ginger flower patterns.

“Excellent”Halong Premium Cruise, Halong Cruise, Halong Bay cruise

We very much enjoyed our two-day cruise on the Ginger cruise. We had a junior suite with a bath and separate shower and small balcony which was spacious and comfortable. The cruise was well organised with a range of activities including a memorable cycle ride on Cat Ba island. The food was good though the drinks were a bit expensive. There was plenty of deck space on the junk for those wanting to find a quiet corner to read and watch the world pass by. The staff were attentive though at times the drinks service was very slow.

     ”Experience of a lifetime”

We spent 2 nights on the Halong Ginger Cruise which is one of the larger very modern wooden junk style tourist boats sailing Halong Bay. The boat was beautiful with excellent facilities and our deluxe cabin with balcony and a great ensuite bathroom surpassed our expectations. The buffet meals were also exceptional in quality and selection especially in the evenings with the seafood bbq. The 2 nights onboard the Jasmine meant we were able to savour the experience especially on the second day where we and the other 2 nighters (many seem to just take the 1 night option) were transferred to another smaller but comfortable day boat for additional relaxed cruising time, sightseeing, biking and village/school tour on Cat Ba island, canoeing and swimming. The Jasmine meantime made the daily return trip to the main port to drop off and pick up new passengers. While the overall experience was excellent the second day on the day boat seemed unfortunately quite disorganised with the provided schedule of planned activities not maintained, uncertainty and long delays waiting without any updates from the crew. We were all wondering at stages what was happening and on the island after a long wait to berth we missed all the children at school by arriving late after after the lunch break. Even the canoeing/swimming from the day boat seemed to start very late and was far too hurried then back on the day boat the cruise back to rendevous with the Jasmine was extremely slow with a number of mid-cruise unexplained stops. In our view together quite annoying issues and some room for improvement but while a reasonable niggle for many not a complete mood breaker. Possibly also not the fault of the operators but when we returned to port we felt very let down having paid a premium for a private car transfer back to Hanoi when we were told our car was running a bit late. We then waited almost an hour for the driver, long after all the other disembarking passengers were well on the way by car and bus back to Hanoi.

    “Nice cruise and good service”

We spent an overnight trip on Ginger after a few days at the Metropole in Hanoi . Ginger was excellent: accommodation, service and food. It is a classy boat. I think one night is enough, particularly as you don’t really get away from the many other cruise boats which do the same sort of trip (be prepared for it being busier than you imagine). But Halong Bay is stunning and well worth a trip, but 24 hours should suffice. The journey to and from Hanoi is nerve-wracking: rules of the road don’t seem to exist, but given the speed at which the trains travel you don’t have much option.
